In Tunisia a lot of women are very skilled in crafts like crochet or embroidery. A KVINFO-supported project with a local women’s cooperative in the town of Menzel Bourguiba and the Royal Danish Arts Academy aims to transform the women’s products from skilled handicrafts to marketable design, enabling them to create viable businesses.

A video documentary has been produced from one of the first series workshops showing the women’s work with the design process, training them to be able to train others and the process of designing and building a showroom.

The project in Tunisia draws on the experiences by the similar project in Morocco that has been running since 2008, which has yielded very good results for the participating women.

Director Naomi Nantois Meadows has kindly made the video available for kvinfo.org
