Lene Steffen is the new head of KVINFO’s activities in the Middle East and North Africa.

Ms. Steffen is a capacity with an extensive international experience:. She comes from a position as  Global Director for Child Rights Governance at Save the Children International, a position she has held since 2010, and previously she was technical advisor for Save the Children Denmark and responsible for their programme in Uganda.

She holds a degree in international development studies from the University of Roskilde.

In her new position at KVINFO she continues her focus on rights based development work, though shifting it from children’s rights to women’s rights and gender equality.

KVINFO’s Gender Equality Programme in the Middle East and North Africa works within the four thematic areas of legislative reform, sexual and reproductive rights, equal participation in politics and prevention of gender based violence.

The programme has activities in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan and is financed by the Danish-Arab Partnership Programme. 13 local organizations are partners as well as the Danish organizations Danner, The Women’s Council, LGBT Denmark and the Danish Family Planning Association.
